Share links & viewers

Password-protect a shared video

Make viewers type a password before the video plays. The link stays the same; only people with the password can watch.

Where to find it

Video settings → Who can watch → Password

How to do it

  1. Open the video’s settings: Settings and insights in your library, or Settings & Insights… on the Mac.

  2. Under Who can watch, choose Password.

  3. Type the password, at least 4 characters.

  4. Press Save changes, and send viewers the password separately.

Good to know

  • To change it later, type a new one in the same box. Leave it empty to keep the current password.
  • Password-protected videos can’t be embedded on other sites.
