FrameCast vs CapCut
Pricing notes as of October 9, 2026. Figures can change — confirm on each vendor’s site before you buy.
CapCut is a widely used editor, especially on mobile. This page does not invent a CapCut feature matrix. The pricing page we could read did not spell out free caption limits, so those limits are not stated here.
FrameCast’s caption story is simpler to verify: transcription stays on device, local videos have no caption time cap, and generating a voice-over is the part that spends credits.
Side-by-side
| Factor | FrameCast | CapCut |
|---|---|---|
| Price we could verify | Free with 25 share links; Pro $5.00/mo, Team $7.00/seat/mo (billed yearly) | The public pricing page listed Pro at USD 19.99 and Ultra at USD 79, plus a USD 12.49 figure, and said displayed pricing is for reference only. The text we could read did not say which figure is monthly or yearly, or what the free plan includes. Confirm on the page before you buy. |
| Captions | On-device captions for the whole local video. No caption time cap in the Mac app, the iPhone editor, or the web editor. Live captions on Mac need macOS 26 or later. A free share link can be up to 30 minutes at 1080p. Pro shares up to 4 hours in 4K. | Not quoted. CapCut’s pricing page did not describe free caption length, languages, or a watermark in the text available on this date. |
| Screen recording | Mac menu bar studio: screen, camera overlay, system audio, microphone, and a browser recorder. The iPhone app records the phone screen or the camera. | Not quoted from CapCut’s pricing page. |
| GIF | Free GIF export on Mac and iPhone. Audio is dropped. The web editor exports MP4. | Not quoted. |
Where FrameCast is the clearer free caption tool
The limit is written down
Local captions are free for the whole video. The 30-minute cap applies to a free share link, not to the caption pass itself.
Built for a screen demo
A shaped camera, a crop that follows the mouse, and live captions are the recording tools. CapCut’s strength is a different editor.
Upgrade is about the link
The first paid step is Pro for unlimited links, longer shares, 4K, and viewer insights — not a seat that unlocks captions.
Fair tradeoffs
If you want CapCut’s mobile templates, effects, and posting tools, use CapCut. FrameCast is not a template library. Check capcut.com/pricing while signed in before you compare dollar amounts; the public page said its displayed prices are a reference.
