Show the keys you press on screen

A keys overlay shows each shortcut you press, so viewers can follow along in tutorials. It needs Input Monitoring and Accessibility.

Where to find it

Studio → Overlays → Keys

How to do it

  1. Open the studio, choose Overlays, and press Keys.

  2. Make sure Key input is on (⌥⌘').

  3. If you see a permission message, press Open Input Monitoring… and allow FrameCast. Allow Accessibility too.

  4. Quit FrameCast and open it again so the permissions apply.

  5. Use the Keep … keys stepper for how many show, and Key linger for how long.

Good to know

  • Don’t type passwords, card numbers, or other secrets while the keys overlay is visible. Anything in the frame is in the recording.
  • Any label can show keys with Show key inputs.
