Add a live preview of your screen crop

A screen preview window shows a live, zoomed view of part of the screen, following your mouse, so you can watch a Reel-shaped crop as you work.

Where to find it

Studio → Overlays → Screen

How to do it

  1. Open the studio, choose Overlays, and press Screen.

  2. Pick a Crop shape, such as Reel 9:16 or Square 1:1.

  3. Turn on Follow mouse (⇧⌥⌘F) and set Follow smoothness.

  4. Drag Crop zoom, or with Gesture zoom on, pinch or scroll on the preview.

  5. Press Show Viewport to see the crop’s outline on the display.

Good to know

  • It doesn’t change the recording, which always keeps the full frame. Pick the shape and motion in the editor.
  • The preview is hidden from recordings by default.
