Edit a recording

Trim the start or end of a clip

Drag a clip’s edges on the timeline to cut off the start or end, or type exact in and out times. Your original file stays whole.

Where to find it

Editor → timeline → drag a clip’s edge

How to do it

  1. Click the clip on the timeline to select it.

  2. Drag its left edge to trim the start, or its right edge to trim the end.

  3. For exact times, use In (seconds) and Out (seconds) in the Timing card on the Edit tab.

  4. Press Undo on the timeline toolbar, or ⌘Z, if you trim too far.

Good to know

  • Snap on the timeline toolbar (or the S key) makes edges stick to other clips and the playhead.
  • For an image, Hold to (seconds) sets how long it stays on screen, up to 60 seconds.
