Fix caption words and timing

Correct a caption’s words, drag it to retime it, split it, or add a line by hand at the playhead.

Where to find it

Editor → timeline → click a caption on the CC row → Caption line

How to do it

  1. Click a caption on the CC row. The Caption line card opens on the Edit tab.

  2. Type the right words in its text box.

  3. Drag the caption on the timeline to move it, drag its edges to change how long it shows, or type Start (seconds) and End (seconds).

  4. Use Split at playhead to break it in two, or Add line for a new caption at the playhead.

  5. Right-click a caption and choose Delete subtitle to remove it.

Good to know

  • Editing a caption copied from the Text track gives the CC row lines of its own. They still move with Smart cleanup and text cuts.
