Edit a recording

Use keyboard shortcuts in the video editor

Play, split, duplicate, undo and move the playhead from the keyboard. Shortcuts work anywhere in the editor except while typing.

Where to find it

Editor window

How to do it

  1. Space plays from the playhead and pauses. ← and → move one frame; ⇧← and ⇧→ move one second; Home and End jump to the start or end.

  2. ⌘B splits at the playhead, ⌘D duplicates, ⇧⌘D detaches audio, ⌘J merges selected clips, and Delete removes the selection.

  3. ⌘Z undoes, ⇧⌘Z or ⌘Y redoes, Esc clears the selection, and S turns snapping on or off.

  4. ⌘S saves the project, ⇧⌘S saves a copy, and ⌘O opens one. ⌘−, ⌘= and ⌘0 zoom the preview out, in, and to fit.

Good to know

  • After you click in the preview, the arrow keys nudge the selected box one pixel, ten with Shift, instead of moving the playhead.
