macOS’s Screenshot app captures the whole screen, a window, or an area, but nothing taller than the display, and it can’t join two screenshots into one. Apple’s support pages list no scrolling or stitching mode. These apps add one or both.

Where FrameCast fits

  • Free, and it stitches both ways

A scrolling screenshot of a long page, or separate areas joined top to bottom or side by side with a live preview, at no cost and with no watermark.

  • Part of one free Mac app

The same app records your screen with instant links, edits video, copies text from anything with ⇧⌘2, marks up screenshots, and keeps a searchable clipboard history.

  • The keys you already press

FrameCast can take over ⇧⌘3, ⇧⌘4, and ⇧⌘5, and adds ⇧⌘1 for stitching, so a long screenshot is one shortcut away in any app.

Fair tradeoffs

CleanShot X and Shottr are mature screenshot tools with deep annotation; CleanShot X also scrolls horizontally, and Shottr scrolls up as well as down. FrameCast’s scrolling capture scrolls down. Snagit fits teams already using TechSmith. For a single web page in Chrome, its full size screenshot costs nothing.
