Edit a recording

Blur or hide passwords and private info in a video

Add a blur, pixelate or solid redaction box over part of the screen for as long as you need. It follows the recording as it pans and zooms.

Where to find it

Editor → timeline toolbar → + Effect

How to do it

  1. Move the playhead to where the private information appears.

  2. Choose + Effect on the timeline toolbar and pick Blur, Pixelate or Redact. It is added for 3 seconds on an FX track.

  3. Drag the effect’s region in the preview over what to hide, and drag its handles to size it.

  4. On the timeline, drag the effect to move it and drag its ends to cover the right time.

Good to know

  • By default the region sticks to the video under it, so it stays covered as follow mouse or auto zoom move the picture. Set Sticks to to The canvas to pin it in place.
  • The effect card also sets the strength, Shape, Soft edge and Fade in and out. Spotlight dims everything except one area; Magnify is a zoom lens.
