Choose between MP4, HEVC and ProRes

MP4 · H.264 plays everywhere, MP4 · HEVC is smaller at the same quality, and MOV · ProRes keeps the most detail for further editing.

Where to find it

Editor → Export tab → Format

How to do it

  1. On the Export tab, open Format in the Format card.

  2. Choose MP4 · H.264 for the widest playback, MP4 · HEVC for a smaller file, or MOV · ProRes for editing in another app.

  3. For ProRes, choose a Profile: Proxy, LT, 422 or HQ. Higher profiles make larger files.

  4. Press Export video….

Good to know

  • ProRes files are much larger than MP4. The size estimate at the bottom updates as you change settings.
