Edit a recording

Crop a screen recording

Pick which part of the recording shows by dragging its crop frame, or zoom in with a slider. The crop applies to the whole timeline.

Where to find it

Editor → select the recording → Edit tab → Crop → Edit crop

How to do it

  1. Click the recording on the timeline or in the preview.

  2. In the Crop card, press Edit crop, or double-click the recording in the preview. The whole recording shows with the frame over it.

  3. Drag the frame to move it, and drag an edge or corner to resize it, which zooms. The arrow keys nudge it one pixel, ten with Shift.

  4. Press Done cropping, or Esc.

Good to know

  • For a shape no preset has, choose Custom shape from the sizes menu in Size & shape, then type a Width and Height or use Lock aspect ratio.
  • When the crop follows the mouse, its position moves on its own. Set Motion to Fixed position to hold it in one place.
