Fix a black or blank screen recording
A black take or blank preview almost always means Screen Recording permission is off or not yet applied. Allow it, then quit and reopen FrameCast.
Where to find it
Studio → Settings → Permissions → Screen Recording
How to do it
Open the studio and choose Settings. Check that Screen Recording has a green check.
If not, click it and turn FrameCast on in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording.
Quit FrameCast with Quit FrameCast in the menu bar and open it again. macOS applies the permission only after a restart.
Record a short test take.
Good to know
- If the camera or an overlay is missing but the screen is fine, check its Visible in screen recordings setting.
- The screen preview overlay and shortcut list are hidden from recordings by default.
