Record your screen

Fix a recording that won’t start

If nothing happens when you press record, check the message under Recording controls: permission, disk space, or no display are the usual causes.

Where to find it

Studio sidebar → Recording controls

How to do it

  1. Open the studio. Any problem shows in orange under Recording controls and on the Screen recording page.

  2. For a permission message, allow Screen Recording or Microphone, then quit and reopen FrameCast.

  3. For “Not enough disk space to record”, free up space on your Mac and try again.

  4. If ⇧⌘R does nothing, check Hotkeys in the menu bar is on, or press ⌃H.

Good to know

  • When disk space runs low during a take, FrameCast stops and saves it before the disk fills, so you keep what was recorded.
  • A team owner or admin can turn recording off for a team. Switch to your personal account to record.
