Record your screen

Take a screenshot

Screenshot an area, a window, or the whole screen with the keys you know. Each one is copied, named from the words in it, and kept for you.

Where to find it

Menu bar → Screenshots, or ⇧⌘5 → capture bar

How to do it

  1. Press ⇧⌘4 and drag over part of the screen. Press Space to pick a window instead.

  2. Press ⇧⌘3 for the screen the pointer is on, or ⇧⌥⌘W and click a window.

  3. Or press ⇧⌘5 for the capture bar, and choose Area, Window, Screen, or Text.

  4. A thumbnail appears in the corner. Point at it to copy, mark up, or delete.

Good to know

  • Add ⌃ to the shortcut, such as ⌃⇧⌘4, to copy it without uploading.
  • These keys apply while Replace macOS screenshot shortcuts is on. Otherwise FrameCast uses ⇧⌥⌘3, ⇧⌥⌘4, and ⇧⌥⌘5.
