Record your screen
Record only part of the screen
Drag over an area to record only that part, or turn on Record inside bounds to keep a resizable dashed frame and record only what’s inside it.
Where to find it
Studio → Screen recording → Display & bounds → Record inside bounds
How to do it
For a quick take, press ⇧⌘5 to open the capture bar and choose Record area. Drag over the part you want, and recording starts.
For a frame you reuse, open Screen recording and turn on Record inside bounds (⇧⌥⌘B).
Drag the dashed edges to resize the bounds, or the handles to move them. Press Reset Bounds to start over.
Start recording. Only the area inside is recorded, and the rest of the display is dimmed.
Stop with ⇧⌘R, Stop in the capture bar, or Stop Recording in the menu bar.
