Turn on captions or read the transcript of a shared video
Shared videos have captions you can turn on, a searchable transcript, chapters, and speed control. Click any line to jump there.
Where to find it
Watch page → captions button, or Transcript tab
How to do it
Press the captions button in the player, or press C. If there are several languages, pick one, or Off.
Open the Transcript tab beside the video. Click a line to jump there; untick Follow along to stop it scrolling.
Search the transcript, or press Copy to copy all of it.
Use the Chapters tab to skip to a section, and the speed button in the player to change speed.
Good to know
- Add ?t=1m30s to the end of a link to start it at 1:30.
- Shortcuts: K plays and pauses, J and L skip 10 seconds, F goes full screen.
