Web editor & recorder

Make the frame follow your cursor in a browser recording

Find the mouse pointer in a video that has no cursor data, so a vertical crop follows it and zooms in where it stops. It runs on your computer.

Where to find it

Web editor → Frame tab → Find the cursor

How to do it

  1. Open the Frame tab and choose a shape such as Reel 9:16.

  2. Under Follow mouse and auto zoom, press Find the cursor. Progress shows while it reads the video.

  3. When it says Cursor found in the video, choose how the frame moves under Motion, such as Follow mouse.

  4. Play the video through to check. If the frame doesn't follow the pointer, press Remove cursor path.

Good to know

  • A video can't show clicks or typing, so auto zoom eases in where the cursor comes to rest rather than on clicks.
  • Recordings from the Mac app already carry their mouse path and don't need this.
  • When you record a short screen recording at getframecast.com/record without signing in, tick Find my cursor in the editor before pressing Edit.
