Export & GIFs

Turn a video into a GIF

Set Format to GIF and choose the size, frame rate, colors and looping. It renders on your Mac, free and without a watermark.

Where to find it

Editor → Export tab → Format → GIF

How to do it

  1. Trim the video to the moment you want. Long GIFs get big.

  2. On the Export tab, set Format to GIF.

  3. In the GIF card, choose a Resolution, a Frame rate from 8 to 30 fps, and Colors from 256 down to 32.

  4. Turn Dither on for smoother gradients, and set Playback to Loop forever or Play once.

  5. Press Export GIF….

Good to know

  • GIFs drop the audio. Captions on the video are drawn into the frames.
  • The frame rate can’t go above the video’s own.
