FrameCast vs Dropbox for more than one team
Pricing notes as of October 12, 2026. Figures can change — confirm on each vendor’s site before you buy.
People still search for Dropbox Business. On the Dropbox plans page checked October 12, 2026, the team plans listed are Standard and Advanced, not a plan named Business. Standard is $15 per user each month and starts at 3 TB for the team. Advanced is $24 per user each month.
FrameCast prices a team, not a seat. Each team is $20.00/month or $220.00/year with 1 TB for up to 250 members, then $20.00/month per extra terabyte. One login can own or join several teams. My Files stay personal. This page does not quote a Dropbox price that was not on that plans page.
Side-by-side
| Factor | FrameCast | Dropbox team plans |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | $20.00/month or $220.00/year per team, or $18.33/month billed yearly. Members included, up to 250. A second team is a second subscription. | Standard is $15 per user each month and starts at 3 TB for the team. Advanced is $24 per user each month for 3 or more people, starting at 15 TB. Plus is $9.99/month for one person with 2 TB. |
| Ten people, one crew | $20.00/month for that team. | About $150/month on Standard, at the listed $15 per user. |
| A second crew or client | My Files stay on your Free or Pro plan. They are not counted against a team, and team admins cannot open them. One email can belong to that personal library and any number of teams. You pick the space. You do not switch accounts. | Standard and Advanced are per-user plans for a team library. This page does not describe a Dropbox price for holding several companies under one login. |
| Who sees a folder | Owner, admin, member, contributor, and viewer. A restricted folder is hidden unless someone is granted view or edit. Owners and admins always see the team drive. A contributor, meant for field staff, sees only their own uploads plus folders granted to them. | Dropbox has sharing permissions and admin roles. Advanced lists SSO and HIPAA. FrameCast has neither. |
| iPhone photos | You choose My Files or a team. Sync into a team asks you to confirm that the team’s admins will see the photos. They file by person and month unless you pick another layout. | Camera upload on the Dropbox mobile apps goes into the account signed in on that phone. |
| Leaving the team | Uploads stay in the team, with your name and the month you left. Devices syncing into that team stop. The drive drops out of Finder and the iPhone Files app. | This page does not restate Dropbox’s offboarding steps. |
| Outside the team | No public link for an arbitrary file or folder. A recording has its own watch link. No version-history browser, and no Windows or Android file app. | Shared links are a core feature. Version history is 180 days on Standard and 1 year on Advanced. Desktop apps include Windows. |
When FrameCast is the better fit
Client work stays in separate drives
An agency, or anyone with two crews, gives each one a team. Each has its own 1 TB, its own card, and its own members. Personal drafts stay in My Files.
The bill does not follow headcount
Ten people on one team are $20.00 a month. The same ten on Dropbox Standard are about $150 at $15 per user, before a second team.
Field phones, with a narrower role
A contributor can record and upload into the team and still be unable to browse the rest of the drive. Restricted folders cover the jobs that should not be visible to every member.
Fair tradeoffs
Dropbox Standard and Advanced include more storage, Windows and Android apps, links to any file or folder, and version history. Advanced lists SSO and HIPAA. FrameCast has none of those. Use Dropbox when the library has to live on Windows PCs or when clients download a folder without an account. Use FrameCast when the crews are on Mac and iPhone, each crew should be its own bill, and personal files must stay out of the team drive.
