Teams
One login. Your files, plus a drive for every team.
One email, one sign-in. You work in your personal library or in a team you belong to. There is no second account to switch into. My Files stay on your own plan, Free or Pro, and a team admin cannot open them.
Each team is a separate drive with its own subscription. You can belong to several, and you can own several. Starting a team creates a new one. It does not convert your personal library into a company drive.

Where a file goes
Every upload, recording, and photo sync asks for a destination. Missing a choice means personal. On the web, the header switches between Personal and each team, and the last one you used is remembered. The Mac Save to menu and the iPhone camera and photo sync use the same list.
Finder shows each drive you turn on. The iPhone Files app lists those drives while you are signed in. There is no Windows or Android file app.
- My Files: your uploads, on your Free or Pro storage
- A team drive: files charged to that team
- Photo sync: personal by default, or a team folder after you confirm
- A recording’s watch link can move into a team later without changing the URL
Starting a team, and joining one
Name the team, then pay for it. Checkout is that team’s own subscription, and the team becomes active when payment succeeds. After that, a picker lists personal folders, files, recordings, and editor assets you can bring across. Files move into the team drive. A recording moves into the team’s Recordings, and its watch link stays the same.
An invite works even if you are already on other teams. Pending invites show on Teams. If the team has verified its company domain, a matching signed-in person can be offered Join. Joining always takes a click, and an admin can require approval. Public mail hosts, including Gmail, Outlook, and iCloud, cannot be verified as a company domain. That offer is not single sign-on, and nobody is added automatically.
Photos, recordings, and the editor
Photo sync stays off until you turn it on. Before an iPhone files into a team, it asks you to confirm that the team’s admins will see those photos. Chosen albums, or the whole library, then upload in the background, mostly on Wi-Fi while the phone charges. The default layout is the person who took them, then the year and month. Personal sync stays in My Files and does not count against any team.
The Mac, iPhone, and web editors each get a shelf of assets per team. A share saved into a team uses that team’s link limits: length, resolution, how many live links, and the monthly AI allowance of 300 runs, pooled for the team. A share saved to My Files uses your personal plan. Joining a team does not change that personal plan.
Team is bought on the web. The iPhone app lists your teams and links out to invites. It does not sell the subscription.
Questions
- Can one person be on more than one team?
- Yes. One email can belong to a personal library and any number of teams, including teams you own. You pick the space you are working in. You do not sign in to a second account.
- Can a team admin see my personal files?
- No. My Files are covered by your personal plan and are not visible to team admins. They are not counted against a team’s storage.
- What happens to files if I leave a team?
- Uploads you made into the team stay there, with your name on them. Your devices that were syncing into that team stop. That team’s folder disappears from Finder and the Files app on the next sync. Your other teams and My Files stay.
- Does FrameCast replace Dropbox links, Office, or Google Docs?
- No. Someone outside the team cannot open an arbitrary file or folder from a link. A recording has its own watch link. There is no live editing of documents, spreadsheets, or slides, no version-history browser, and no Windows or Android file app.
