FrameCast vs OneDrive
Pricing notes as of October 12, 2026. Figures can change — confirm on each vendor’s site before you buy.
OneDrive is Microsoft’s file and photo backup, included with Microsoft 365. The personal plans on Microsoft’s OneDrive page bundle storage with Outlook and, on Personal and Family, the desktop Office apps.
FrameCast sells storage for a personal file library and for each shared team drive, without Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Personal files use Free (15 GB) or Pro ($6.00/month or $60.00/year, 200 GB). Each team is its own subscription: $20.00/month or $220.00/year for one team, with 1 TB for up to 250 members. Extra storage is $20.00/month per extra terabyte, on your personal plan or on that team. One sign-in can belong to several teams. My Files are not counted against a team, and team admins cannot open them. This page uses the personal prices on the OneDrive page. It does not quote a Microsoft 365 business seat.
Side-by-side
| Factor | FrameCast | OneDrive |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 15 GB for files and iPhone photo sync. | 5 GB of cloud storage for one person, plus photo and file backup, on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. |
| One person | Pro is $6.00/month or $60.00/year with 200 GB, unlimited video links, and viewer insights. | Basic is $1.99/month or $19.99/year for 100 GB. Personal is $9.99/month or $99.99/year for 1 TB and the desktop Office apps. |
| Several people | Each team is $20.00/month or $220.00/year for one team with its own 1 TB. One login can be in several teams. Members included, up to 250, with five roles and restricted folders. My Files stay on your personal plan. $20.00/month per extra terabyte. | Family is $12.99/month or $129.99/year for up to six people, 1 TB each. That is separate storage per person, and it includes Office. |
| Photos | Off until you turn it on. You pick the destination: My Files, a team, or a folder. Sync into a team asks you to confirm that team's admins will see the photos. Send the whole library or chosen albums, everything already on the phone or only new photos, with videos optional and screenshots skippable. On a team, photos land in the folder you pick — by member and month, by default — and upload in the background, mostly while the iPhone charges on Wi-Fi. Personal sync never counts against a team. | The OneDrive page describes automatic photo and video backup from the phone, into that person’s OneDrive. |
| Office files | You can store a Word or Excel file. Nothing in FrameCast co-authors it. | Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote are the point of the Personal and Family subscriptions, including co-authoring through OneDrive. |
| Desktop | Each drive you turn on becomes a FrameCast folder in Finder. Files download when opened, and Keep Downloaded can keep a folder on the Mac. The iPhone Files app lists each drive while you are signed in. There is no Windows or Android file app. | OneDrive syncs on Windows and Mac, with a mobile app on iOS and Android. The page also describes offline access. |
| Sharing | A person outside the team cannot open an arbitrary file or folder from a link. Signed-in members can open the team drive, within their role. A recording has its own watch link, separate from the file library. | OneDrive sharing links are how files leave the account. This page does not quote link-control details. |
When FrameCast is the better fit
One folder for every work phone
Family gives each person a terabyte. It does not file every company iPhone into a single job folder by member and month.
You are not buying Office
If the crew already has Microsoft 365, OneDrive may already be paid for. If they need a photo drive and a recorder, a team is $20.00 a month for that crew.
A watch link for a recording
A screen recording can be edited and published with a transcript and comments. OneDrive will store the file. The watch page is the FrameCast piece.
Fair tradeoffs
Microsoft 365 Personal and Family include far more storage per dollar, plus Office, Outlook, and apps on Windows and Android. OneDrive also describes Personal Vault, ransomware detection, and Copilot features this product does not have. Choose OneDrive when the files are Office documents or the PCs are Windows. Choose FrameCast when the shared thing is a Mac and iPhone crew’s photos and recordings.
