Loudness and voice polish, free

Audio finishing runs when you export a movie. Polish voice turns on noise cleanup, a gate between phrases, a de-esser, compression, and YouTube loudness in one step. You can also set loudness on its own and leave the voice alone.

The pass is free on the Mac app, the iPhone editor, and the web editor. It does not spend voice credits. A generated narrator is a different control.

FrameCast screen recording controls with follow mouse, gesture zoom, system audio, microphone, and output settings for display, aspect, quality, and frame rate.
Recording controls, including the microphone and system audio. Loudness is applied later, in the export sheet, not in this panel.

Targets you can pick

Loudness is measured over the whole export the way streaming services measure it, with silence gated out. Peaks stay below −1.5 dB. The level will not be pushed more than 20 dB, so a near-silent file does not become hiss.

  • Leave as recorded
  • −14 LUFS for YouTube and Spotify
  • −16 LUFS for podcasts and Apple
  • −23 LUFS for broadcast (EBU R128)
  • On the Mac, the card is labeled Audio finishing. GIF export skips it, because a GIF has no audio

What polish changes

Polish voice, on the Mac, or the matching polish control in the web editor, starts from a studio treatment and sets the YouTube target. You can still move cleanup, clarity, body, punch, and pitch. Reset turns the treatment off.

This is the sound of the take you recorded. It is not an AI voice reading a script. Catalogue voice samples are free to audition. Pressing Generate spends voice credits.

The file is free. The link is the upgrade.

Export the leveled movie and upload it where you already post. A share link is optional. Free includes 25 live share links, up to 30 minutes each, at 1080p.

Pro is $5.00/month, $60.00 billed yearly when you want unlimited links, up to 4 hours, 4K delivery, and viewer insights. Loudness is not on that list.

Questions

Does YouTube loudness cost extra?
No. Loudness leveling and voice polish are included with the free Mac, iPhone, and web editors. They do not use voice credits.
Will this work on a GIF?
No. GIF export drops the audio, so there is nothing to level. Export MP4, HEVC, or ProRes when the soundtrack matters.
Is this the same as an AI voice-over?
No. Polish changes the recording you already made. An AI voice-over generates a new read and spends voice credits.
When should I pay?
When a free share link is too short or you have used 25 of them. Pro is $5.00/month, $60.00 billed yearly.
